I won an Ian Smail salt glazed piece and it is amazing!!!
I've yearned for one of his pieces of work for 30 plus years and at last I have one. It is so big too which I hadn't counted on and it's a stunner! I'm just so thrilled with it and would like to thank those who encouraged me to give the auction a go.

Oops I forgot to measure her and what a big girl she is !!
I can wrap my arms around this one and hug her
Had trouble with the reflections, as the salt glaze is so thick .... yummm
Check out the big bits of feldspar in the clay and these would have cut his hands to bits when he made it, but he would have wanted the chunky contrast ..
This shows the size hopefully ..

Wow! That's just a gorgeous piece! I had never thought of the effect of the 'chunkier' clays on potters' hands, now I'm wincing just thinking about it!
