Dunn Bennett & Co Ltd "Dunedin"
Hi all,
I'm an absolute newbie to this so I'm hoping you will be able to help me with some information - I picked up 4 x cup and saucer sets today and am really interested in the markings and the logo. I really can't find anything much online about it. I am assuming it's Dunedin NZ, but don't know - and have no idea what NCC stands for. Please can any one help? I'd love to learn more. See photos attached (not sure why they are on their side sorry but hopefully still ok!) & bottom of cups and saucers read:
"Scoular Dunedin, Vitreous Ironstone, Dunn Bennett & Co Ltd, Burslem, Made in England" and they have a thistle image with NCC in it.
Thanks so much for any help!!!
Louise

Re: Dunn Bennett & Co Ltd "Dunedin"
Hello lecallaw.
Yes, you are correct that this will be Dunedin in New Zealand.
Dunn Bennett imported a lot of vitrified ware from England.
I can't help with the N and CC but I'd hazard a guess that there is a C for club in there.
I'm interested in the "Scoular", a well known Dunedin name I am familiar with from the work of the architect Basil Hooper.
I hope someone else has some info for you.

As it appears on the thistle I'm thinking CC is likely Caledonian Club, which leaves you with the N to find. I'm not that familiar with Dunedin's geography but a map might help you with that N.
