The Potters Marks book shows the mark in this auction for Flora Christeller ...

http://www.trademe.co.nz/pottery-glass/porcelain-pottery/other-nz-manufacturers/auction-1132549120.htm

To me this is the mark and work of Clifford Smith.

The marks that Flora submitted to the NZ Potters Society are these two:

http://www.ceramicsnz.org/PottersMarks/PottersMark_Image.cfm?PotterID=90

This is Clifford Smith's mark in Tim Caulton's records:

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=724060031018501&set=oa.305445929605445&type=3&theater

Clifford Smith also used this mark that is in Tim Caulton's records:

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=724060057685165&set=oa.305445929605445&type=3&theater

We don't have this mark on the site yet.

So what I am saying, is that the Potters Marks book has made another error.
Do you agree?

I questioned the trader about his auction and after a bit of research he changed the maker to Clifford Smith.
I also contacted Howard Williams who was deeply involved with the Potters Marks book to ask him to check it out, but I haven't heard from him yet.

Howard wasn't aware of any problem with the Flora Christeller marks, but gave me Flora's sister Fiona's email to ask her about it, as Flora passed away several years ago now.
Fiona replied to say that she remembers Flora using a 'clay stick' stamp with the CF mark that is one of the marks that she submitted to the NZ Potters and added a photo to show it.
This doesn't explain the Clifford Smith type mark that is in the Potters' Marks book, but I'm going to disregard that mark from now on as it is causing a lot of grief.

This is her stamped mark:

Bumps this topic for Jeremy to see.
Flora's mark has very square letters.

The Potters Marks book has an incorrect mark for her that looks like Clifford Smith's and nothing like the one on NZ Potters Inc.

Ev, I bought the painted faces mug on trademe and from memory it was advertised as Flora Christeller. The artwork on the plate that Sarah Nefelibata posted on the studio pottery fb group is a pretty obvious match for that on my mug and the base of the plate has is signed "Flora Ch", so the stamp mark on the mug will be Flora's too. Kat gave me the other Flora mug posted on the Flora Christeller topic. At the time she had forgotten the maker so we had a look through the book and were reminded by that, but I also remember Kat tweaking the mark in her book. As the marks there were transcribed from photos there was bound to be potential for inaccuracy. I have no issues with the marks on my two mugs being a match. I have to go on photos atm because stuff is boxed.

Here are my mug montage and Sarah Nefelibata's photos from facebook, used with her permission.

[the ipad is being annoying. I will have to post on computer at a later time]
