Horsehair firing to finish off the year
Our pottery group ended the year with a horsehair firing and a Xmas lunch on the 2nd December.
The tropical warm wet air flow didn't stop us enjoying the day, though umbrellas came in useful.
Sugar was used on some of the hot pots this time too and left a burnt speckled splatter.
I put gold lustre on the beak and 'feathers' on a kiwi I made.... and it worked at 750'
The day was hugely successful as the photos below prove.
Thanks to mare for the photos.
The first load ... one of many
Sugar was sprinkled on the large piece
My kiwi in the kiln about to be lifted out.... check out the gold!

Another shot taken just after I'd managed to knock half of his beak off .....
