782 coffee can with monogram: Fifth Avenue 246
A pleasant surprise find at Three Kings Plaza SPCA shop.
782 coffee can with "Fifth Avenue 246" monogram.
246 Queen Street was the location of the flash Crown Lynn store.
I can only guess that there was a cafe there named Fifth Avenue.
(Google had nothing for me.)
I have a 3618 can (782 can with a reduced footring) with a House of Representatives monogram but this is the first monogrammed 782 can I have seen.
Also, 782s are usually marked Cook & Serve (or a pattern name) but this one has the standard green 1967 vitrified backstamp. I have seen such previously on a Napoli can but it sold quite high on tm so this is the first I have owned. (I do have a 782 Reflections can with a black crown and star 1955-1964 stamp.)

Finn sent me a note on Fifth Avenue.
Auckland Public Library's Auckland Scrap Book, page 103 has a piece on "Fifth Avenue, the new fourth floor at the 246 Shopping centre", with picture and description, dated December 1st 1967. The date coincides with the date of the can.

It's in my Database Janice, but we don't have it on the site.
