Large M mark on big beautiful Copper Red Glazed Porcelain Pots: IT IS MURRAY GARNER
But who? Any ideas? All were bought around Hamilton so may be a local. Someone mentioned Ken Martin, but this isn't the mark I recognise as his.

Found out who this great potter is: Murray Garner of Tauranga. He is still going strong despite a stoke at 50.
It is a bit more difficult discovering the identity of the potter behind the mark when the mark refers to the first name, not the family name.

The mark is actually in the NZ Potters' Marks book, but is shown nowhere near as well formed as it is on these pots.

This is great news T&C and I see what you mean about his mark in the Potters Marks book. Thank goodness we can add your photo to the Marks Gallery as it is very clear.
What a moving story of a very determined potter!! Marvellous !!
I have moved your post out of the Mystery Pottery category into the NZ Studio Potters
