Taniwha? jug and 5 cups.
Hello,
I just bought this - it was pricey - but i liked it in a retro way. I have no idea who it is by & can't see any marks.
any ideas?? both sides of the vessel have the i think...? taniwha design. the cups have a lovely lustre glaze to them in parts.
many thanks,
amanda

This is really beautiful and I have a soft spot for the Taniwha.
Can you tell if this has been hand made or made in a mould Amanda?
It reminds me of this work by Louise Pickford from the 1980's and 90's ...

Many thanks Ev, yes it is stunning & in amazing condition. it looks like it may have some age to it? i really only know that it has a very mid century modern NZ look - and the glaze /colour reminds be of west german pottery, which I also like.
I am pretty sure its a mould? as i looked closely and the jug looks to have a seam running through the middle - although the cups don't have that or it's no obvious to me. I don't know what it's made of. But I'm attaching more pics to show what I think could be a mould mark.

Re: Taniwha? jug and 5 cups.
Yes I agree that if there is a hint of a seam then it was made in a mould.
I haven't come up with any ideas as to the maker though.
Lets hope that someone comes along that can help.
