Nautilus- Fake or remake?
HELP knowledgable #crownlynn people.
We got this "nautilus" vase at a charity shop it has no mark that we can see BUT I am wondering if there is a stamp (see red circle and zoom in you may see something
)
We already have a stamped and marked Nautilus and this seems exactly the same.
Is it a fake, remake...did they do nautilus fakes/remakes?
Any info would be marvelous!

Re: Nautilus- Fake or remake?
Hi there, Studio Ceramics did make copies of the Nautilus Vase, but they put a green glaze on the inside, like this

If there is a 550 number on the base it is most likely Crown Lynn.

Re: Nautilus- Fake or remake?
Hi Ev, thanks so much for your reply! There is no discernible mark on the base at all. I wonder if it's a fake?

Re: Nautilus- Fake or remake?
It looks good to me and the latest round of fakes did not include this shape.
Re: Nautilus- Fake or remake?
Well, fingers and toes crossed it's the real deal. It is on a par to our "actual" crown lynn one. Weird it has no stamp at all.

Re: Nautilus- Fake or remake?
Hiya,
I have found something similar with a Nautilus I've just bought.
I'm a tad heart broken because I really think it's a second or a fake. (I bought it sight unseen).
It has the 550 stamp on it but only pinpricks are visible and no CL stamp.
It also has some glaze imperfections and a poorly finished edge.
I'd post a photo but I have no idea how to.
Does anyone know if there was a seconds market for CL - eg. for staff to take home?

Re: Nautilus- Fake or remake?
Hi Peta, we have been communicating on Facebook.
Yes there was a Crown Lynn Seconds shop at the factory.
As yours is numbered 550 that gives it more hope that it is Crown Lynn.
I hope you didn't pay the earth for it sight unseen, though !!
If so I would take it back and get my money refunded.
In saying that though, these are hugely popular at the moment and are fetching good prices.
