Australian Fine China started in Subiaco, Perth as Calyx Porcelain Co. Ltd in 1919 going into full production in 1921. Various marks were used including Calyx, Bristile, Toorak, and Wembley. In 1993 the name changed to Australian Fine China and the backstamp on your piece was used from 1996. The company closed its WA factory in 2006 but continues production in China.
I think the NZ Army crest was changed in 1999 replacing one of the swords with a taiaha and incorporating the words Ngati Tumatauenga.

Thank you for your reply - quite interesting! I wonder if many were Australian made, I've never seen any others.

Hugh Lancelot Brisbane and Wunderlich Ltd leased the Calyx works in 1941 and purchased it in 1943. Various Bristile and Brisbane and Wunderlich marks were used in the 1940s. The Bristile name was reintroduced in the 1970s and the company's trading name was Bristile Fine China. The backstamp on Ev's piece was used from 1989 to 1993.
