It's actually a Shaving Mug, these were used when men used a brush to lather their faces using these mugs and some magical soapy stuff, before scraping off the face hair with a sharp blade.

Ha, awesome thanks for that. I did notice the name change, I thought it must have been a auto correct on my iPad, But oh no. Now I have to keep an eye out for a shaving brush, cut throat razor and a leather strap. I remember my grandfather using a cut throat and having a leather strap hanging off the towel rail..
