Used to travel to the East in the 60's 70's and bought this terracotta teapot in 1967 so that I could have my morning cuppa or two before the day's work. I used to take my NZ tea with me also.

Made in Chairman Mao's China and purchased from the People's Republic Emporium in Singapore for some paltry sum of money.

Unable to get the translation as it is in an old cursive style but am told it most likely a poem that realtes to the pastoral scene on the other side. There is a tiny makers mark under the lid too hard to photograph.
Still makes a great cuppa and is reserved these days for Lapsang Soochong the smoky black china tea.

How delightful it is too!
Is it slipcast? Lovely freehand writing and decoration Smile

Slipcast ? I can't be sure if so the mould is a wonder and there is no sign whatsover of any mould join. Doesn't appear to be glazed either but has a lovely smooth satin finish.
