Another 'Rare' Early Ruskin-type glazed Lamp Base

Ev, your recent effort to pin down the maker of the vases, confused as early Crown Lynn, got me thinking about a lamp base we have that we have some hope is one of the real Crown Lynn "Specials" Department ones.

It belongs in that mysterious category of Crown Lynn that includes the pots in the following posts:

I think it is best to record it here. It has a Kauri plug below the light bulb fitting and an old NZ PDL plug that looks to be mid 1950s-mid 1960s (maybe a replacement?).













Actually, do you think its possible these were made in the late 1950s using old glaze recipes? Are we looking in the wrong decade maybe?

That is a wonderful lamp base T&C.
Manos has identified some darker pieces in similar glazes as early Crown Lynn and I added them to the Pinterest Ruskin-like page. Perhaps there is some truth in these allegations..?
At least the base looks more familiar to me than those probable James Plant bases.

Food for thought and we really need a seminar where talented people can identify pottery in different ways. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, the glaze is a match - we have a few of this glaze to. The clay looks like the slightly yellow/cream coloured early clay Crown Lynn used too, which makes us think we might be on to a good one here. The base is not glazed over, as many (all?) of the James Plant ones are, and seems to be a slightly lower fired pot than the Plant ones are.

I have this 479 Jug Vase from this era that has the same glazes on it. Deep maroon that breaks to blue and it appears to have had the blue glaze put on first. However the base has just the blue glaze on it.

These are magnificent pieces of pottery!
