what is the historical development of the wide-base mug before CL & FL commercialized the mariner no spill mug in the 1970s? I seem to remember reading somewhere that it has a nautical history. Please illuminate us. TYIA!

I don't know the history of the non spill mug.
The Shape 1448 one that Crown Lynn made was made around 1985.

Jeremy discusses it at great length here:

history of no spill mariner mugs? Empty non slip mugs

Post  kermiko Mon 8 Jun - 0:34

Hi Just noticed the burnsco marine non slip mug.
kermiko manufactured and decorated these for burnsco
and promotional companies. We exported some until the volume
became to great and then imported the blanks and decorated them in NZ.

Thanks for that snippet Kermiko.
Could you tell me if you are referring to Kermiko Potteries or Kermiko Ceramics.
I would like to add the photo of it to the correct Gallery.
Many thanks.
